JAKARTA - A mother has gone viral on social media complaining to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) about her family being arrested by the police for refusing illegal levies (extortion).

Based on the video uploaded to the Instagram account @bogor24update, it appears that a mother is crying hysterically in front of President Jokowi. He complained that his family had been arrested by the police. In fact, the arrest was justified because he refused extortion.

The Bogor Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro, who confirmed this matter, stated that he would follow up on the complaint. The handling of the case will be an attention to be resolved.

"We will follow up with an investigative audit. Based on this information, we will pay special attention to this case," said Susatyo, Friday, April 22.

However, based on the data, the case has actually been handled since December 2021. But it's not about extortion but a case of beatings.

"For information, this case was handled by the police in December 2021 for beating a fellow trader. The mother's family carried out a beating and there were victims who were fellow traders," said Susatyo.

Susatyo also emphasized that the handling of this case had gone through an appropriate investigation process. In fact, a pretrial process was also carried out.

"The investigation process has been carried out according to the procedure by considering the aspect of justice for all parties. Objections to the handling of this case have also been tested through a pretrial mechanism," said Susatyo.
