Police Secure A Number Of People During April 21 Demo, Among Them Want To Break Through The Merdeka Palace

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya arrested several people during student demonstrations on April 21, yesterday. Those arrested are said to have tried to break through the security barricades.

"We have secured it, we are currently checking it," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan at the Horse Statue, Thursday, April 21, evening.

One of the arrested parties tried to break into the Merdeka Palace. They tried to forcibly pass through the barricades that had been created.

However, it is not possible to specify the number of people detained. The reason is that the data collection process is still being carried out.

Then, said Zulpan, the people who were detained would be examined to ensure whether there was a violation of the law. If found, the legal process will be enforced.

"If there are indications of criminal violations, of course, they will be brought to the Metro Police," he said.

Although he has not yet explained the number of people who have been arrested, Zulpan said that they are a group of people who do not have a permit for action. In fact, not a mass group of students and workers.

"In general, what we have arrested are those or people who are not part of the group who have a notice to protest today," Zulpan said.

For information, students and workers held rallies in the DPR RI area and the State Palace. They demanded several things, one of which was to take firm action against constitutional criminals and reject the discourse of extending the presidential term.
