SIDOARJO - The inactive regent of Probolinggo Puput Tantriana Sari and her husband Hasan Aminuddin were charged with 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp800 million each, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

KPK prosecutor Wawan Yunarwanto said the two defendants were found guilty of committing a crime of corruption together.

"The defendant demands 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 800 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison and to pay a replacement money of Rp. 20 million," he said in a trial at the Surabaya Corruption Court, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 21.

The prosecutor assessed that the two defendants were proven to have violated Article 12 letter a of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, the attorney for the two defendants, Agus Sujatmoko, said the demands given to his two clients were considered disproportionate.

"We will do a defense against the demands of the prosecutor," he said.

The KPK has named a total of 22 suspects in the bribery case. Puput along with three other people are the recipients of bribes. Meanwhile, 18 people who gave bribes were ASN of the Probolinggo Regency Government.

The next trial is scheduled for Thursday next week with the agenda of hearing the plea from the defendant.
