Checking The Market, Surakarta City Government Finds Expired Products

SURAKARTA - The Surakarta City Government carried out surprise inspections or food inspections to a number of traditional markets and modern shops. The result found a number of products with no expiration date

Head of the Health and Pharmaceutical Facility Provision Division of the Surakarta City Health Service (DKK) Tenny Setyowati said that on average the food examined at the inspection did not include an expiration date.

Related to this, his party has conveyed to the traders to be submitted to the distributor.

"That (expiration date) is the main thing for food safety. The average packaging is quite good. (Those sold) should still be valid, so they have certainty that food ingredients are safe," he said in Solo, Thursday, April 21.

Especially for the Eid preparation period, he said, there will be an increase in public consumption, especially households who want to prepare the best food needs. "So we try to give the best with food safety," he said, as reported by Antara.

As a follow-up, he said, the relevant agencies involved in the inspection would immediately withdraw food products that did not comply with the regulations.

"Earlier, we immediately followed up, the expired ones were immediately withdrawn. By sampling we trained all representatives of traditional and modern retailers, although we still monitor one or two," he said.

Meanwhile, several government agencies were involved in the food inspection, including the Surakarta DKK, Surakarta City Satpol PP, BPOM, the welfare department, and the police.
