The Cikarang Terminal Autobus Company Threatened By Sanctions For Raising Fares

CIKARANG - Head of Terminal Type B Cikarang Dayan ensured that the Otobus Company (PO) operating at the terminal would be subject to sanctions if it is proven that they have increased travel fares during the 2022 Lebaran homecoming season.

"So far, there has been no government decision to be able to increase ticket prices, so there should be no POs who set fares above the prices that have been applied or we will impose sanctions," he said in Cikarang as reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 20.

Dayan explained that some time ago his party received reports from a number of people who found the bus company charging above normal fares but no violations were found after checking.

"We received reports from the public and I immediately checked, it turns out that there is no evidence that points to that," he said.

Dayan emphasized that it is possible that in the near future the relevant authorities such as the West Java Transportation Service will check bus fares to find out whether there are violations of fare rules.

"If there is an inspection later, there will definitely be sanctions for POs who violate it. Therefore, we urge you not to increase tariffs before there is a directive from the central government," he said.

Dayan also ensured that the Cikarang Terminal was clean from the practice of brokering bus tickets because it had imposed strict rules so as to close access for the perpetrators.

"We always monitor it. In Cikarang Terminal there are no brokers. Outside the terminal there may be but it's beyond our reach. Inside, we will definitely monitor the feasibility, administration, and order. So if you buy tickets, you have to go to the counter, not through intermediaries," he said.
