BANDARLAMPUNG - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) in Lampung said that four of the 11 Indonesian citizens (WNI) from Lampung Province who were stranded in Turkey would be sent home first.

"Four Indonesian citizens from Lampung who were abandoned in Istanbul, Turkey will be repatriated on Sunday (24/4). The rest will follow gradually," said Head of UPT BP2MI Bandarlampung Ahmad Salabi, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 20.

According to him, the repatriation of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) who were stranded in Turkey could not be done all at once because booking tickets using e-commerce could not be done much.

Ahmad mentioned the four Indonesian citizens who will be repatriated, namely Bambang Kurniawan, Yuli Winata, and Muhammad Ikhwanul Muslimin from East Lampung Regency and Imam Taufik Hidayat from Tulangbawang.

"For the rest who are still in Istanbul in the process but do not know when they can be repatriated. Hopefully it will be as soon as possible," he said.

He hoped that the police, especially the Lampung Regional Police, would follow up on the case of the 11 Indonesian citizens who were abandoned in Turkey and find out if there were sponsors or service bureaus that illegally dispatched the migrant workers.

"In the future, we hope there will be no more incidents like this. If you want to work abroad, you are expected to coordinate, especially with the district and city Manpower Offices so that they can find out which countries accept jobs," continued Ahmad.

Previously, as many as 11 Indonesian citizens from Lampung Province who were in Turkey asked the government to return them to their country. The 11 Indonesian citizens include nine people from East Lampung Regency, one person from Way Kanan, and one person from Tulang Bawang Barat.

They can be in Turkey for the purpose of working in Poland. Through the sponsor who brought them, they first transited in Turkey to take care of work documents to Poland.

However, because a number of document requirements from the Polish state could not be completed, they remained in Turkey.
