KAI Will Report And Demand Responsibility For Car Drivers Who Collide With KRL

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will report the driver of the car that hit the Jabodetabek KRL on the Bogor-Jakarta Kota connection this morning to the authorities.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said his party would hold drivers accountable according to the rules. Because, Joni stated that this accident occurred due to the carelessness of the car driver who did not prioritize train travel.

This accident resulted in the disruption of KRL travel which hampered the activities of many people in the morning.

"KAI will hold the car driver accountable for his actions for not prioritizing train travel, causing damage to facilities and disruption to travel," said Joni in a statement, Wednesday, April 20.

Joni emphasized that all road users must prioritize train travel when crossing level crossings. This is in accordance with Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways and Law 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. Article 124 of the Railway Law states, at the intersection of a plot between the railway line and the road, road users are required to prioritize rail travel. .

Then in Article 114 of the Road Traffic and Transportation Law, Article 114 states that level crossings between the railway line and the road, the vehicle driver must stop when the signal has sounded, the rail gate has begun to be closed and or there is another signal, prioritizing the train. , and gives primary rights to the vehicle that crosses the rail first.

"KAI urges the public to be careful when crossing a highway with a railway line. Make sure the path to be traversed is safe, look right and left, and obey the signs," said Joni.

It is known that KRL 1077 for the Bogor-Jakarta Kota relation had a collision with a Honda Mobilio at 06.45 WIB. The car driven by a UI lecturer broke through the railroad crossing barrier between Citayam Station and Depok Station. Thus, a collision is unavoidable.

As a result, KAI Commuter engineered the operational pattern of train travel. Passengers in the train that experienced the collision were evacuated. This incident also has an impact on travel time and waiting time at the station.
