JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan invites Jakartans who are Muslim in Jakarta to read the Al-Quran today, Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 10.00 WIB.

"On April 20 at 10:00 WIB, Jakarta residents are invited to read the Qur'an together at the same time in their respective places," Anies said in a video uploaded to the baznasbazisdkijakarta Instagram account.

Anies said that the simultaneous reading of the Qur'an could be done anywhere, along with community activities at that time.

"It can be at home, it can be at the bus stop, it can be at the station, it can be at the office, it can be in the park, it can be at the mosque, it can be anywhere," said Anies.

The former Minister of Education and Culture said that the two letters that were proposed to be read were Al-Fatihah and Ar-Rahman.

"The verses that are proposed to be read are Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Ar-Rahman, as a form of our gratitude for all the blessings bestowed on us all," explained Anies.

Anies made this call in support of the activity entitled "Jakarta Loves the Quran" which was initiated by the National Amil Zakat Agency of DKI Jakarta Province or Baznas (Bazis).

"This is a program organized by Baznaz and I want to support it. Let's join together in an extraordinary movement," he said.

This activity is related to the commemoration of the revelation of the Qur'an which is always commemorated on the 17th day of the month of Ramadan every year.
