Governor Khofifah Describes 7 Development Priorities For East Java 2023

SURABAYA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa explained the seven development priorities of East Java in 2023 in the Development Planning Consultation (Musrenbang) of the Provincial Government Work Plan.

"The seven priorities have been aligned with the National Government Work Plan (RKP) 2023," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 19.

He explained that the seven priorities for East Java's development in 2023 are the recovery of the people's economy through increasing added value in the secondary and tourism sectors, then strengthening inter-regional connectivity in an effort to distribute development results and improve infrastructure services.

Then, improving education, health services, labor competitiveness productivity and poverty alleviation, as well as increasing social awareness and preserving local cultural values.

Furthermore, increasing food independence and energy resource management, increasing disaster resilience and environmental quality, and finally increasing public peace and order as well as improving the quality of public services for the people of East Java.

According to him, all development priorities for East Java in 2023 cannot be separated from the values of "Nawa Bhakti Satya" which are the spirit of development in East Java.

Along with the sloping condition of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Khofifah, the East Java economy began to improve with an economic growth value of 3.57 percent and managed to contribute the second largest to the economic growth of the island of Java by 25.01 percent.

Including the total economy in Indonesia with a contribution of 14.48 percent.

"In 2023, we target the East Java economy to grow by 3.45 percent to 5.15 percent," said the former social minister.

In line with the increasingly controlled COVID-19 pandemic, the realization of investment in East Java in 2021 has also increased, even being the highest in the last five years.

Namely, the achievement of Domestic Investment (PMDN) in 2021 is IDR 52.5 trillion and Foreign Investment (PMA) is IDR 27 trillion.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPD AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti as the representative of the East Java region said that he would bring the aspirations of the East Java people to be fought for in the national planning.

He also emphasized that in the economic system and natural resource management, the people as the owner of sovereignty should not be defeated by the oligarchs.

"Therefore, the Pancasila economic system, which is structured as a joint effort for the prosperity of the people, is absolute and must be restored," he said.
