JAKARTA - Russia claims to have succeeded in destroying logistics centers for weapons aid from abroad, such as from the United States and Europe, which were sent to strengthen the Ukrainian military in the face of increased attacks by Moscow troops.

The spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said the logistics center, which was destroyed by the Russian aerospace forces, was the arrival of foreign arms aid in the past six days.

According to Konashenkov, the logistics facility is the 124th Joint Logistics Support Center of the Ukrainian Logistics Forces Command in Lviv. The attack was carried out using high-precision air missiles.

"Logistics centers and large shipments of foreign weapons that arrived in Ukraine over the past six days from the US and European countries were destroyed," he said, TASS reported April 19.

As previously reported, the US and a number of countries, especially from Europe, plan to add aid shipments to Ukraine, in anticipation of an increase in attacks by Russia which are predicted to be concentrated in the eastern region of the country.

Most recently, Ukraine will receive significant additional military assistance, including various military equipment from the United States, along with an increase in attacks by Russian troops in the south and east.

Last week, US President Joe Biden announced an additional $800 million in military aid to Ukraine on Wednesday, expanding the scope of the system provided to include heavy artillery.

The package, which brings the total amount of military aid since Russian forces invaded in February to more than $2.5 billion, includes artillery systems, artillery shells, armored personnel carriers and unmanned coastal defense vessels, President Biden said in a statement after phone call with President Zelensky.
