YOGYAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission VIII Yandri Susanto said that Indonesia's hajj quota for the 1443H/2022M hajj is estimated at 101,000 people.

"The latest information, although this has not been officially conveyed by the Ministry of Religion, seems to be 101,000 people," said Yandri Susanto during a working visit with the DPR Commission VIII group in Kapatihan, Yogyakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, April 18.

He said the hajj quota for Indonesia, which amounts to around 48 percent of the 2019 quota, is the highest quota from the Saudi Arabian government compared to other countries this year.

"It seems that Indonesia has the most quotas from all over the world. We should be grateful even though there is an age limit, but we can solve it by communicating well through the regional offices of the Ministry of Religion throughout Indonesia," he said.

Yandri said the total Hajj Travel Costs (BPIH) in 2022 reached IDR 81 million per person, while the agreed BPIH for each prospective hajj pilgrim was IDR 39,800,000 million, up from the average BPIH in 2020 of IDR 35 million per person.

However, Yandri ensured that prospective hajj pilgrims who will depart this year or who experience a delay in leaving in 2020 will not be charged an additional fee at all.

"Even though we have knocked down Rp. 39,800,000, the pilgrims will not pay an additional Rp. 1, this is the commitment of the DPR and the government," said the politician from the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Therefore, the fees charged to prospective pilgrims in Indonesia, according to Yandri, are the cheapest in the world.

"The 'real cost' is very large, but our pilgrims pay just under 40 percent. Even that, from Rp. 39,800,000 thousand, it will be returned to prospective pilgrims for a living cost of around Rp. 6 million. From the ticket alone, it is Rp. 29. 500,000," he said.
