Bandarlampung City Government Issues Circular Letter Of Compulsory Zakat Through BAZNAS For ASN

JAKARTA - The Bandarlampung City Government, Lampung Province, encourages state civil servants (ASN) to pay zakat fitrah through the local National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas).

"Yes, of course we encourage ASN to pay their zakat through Baznas," said Mayor of Bandarlampung, Eva Dwiana, quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 17.

According to him, by utilizing Baznas in paying zakat, infaq and shadaqah, the distribution will be right on target and can be accounted for.

"Indeed, all this time, ASN has been helping Baznas a lot, so why don't they also pay their zakat through the amil zakat agency," he said.

In fact, he continued, in the near future the Bandarlampung City Government will distribute aid with Baznas as much as 120 tons of rice to 20 sub-districts simultaneously.

"This assistance is not from zakat, but the government is for the poor," he said.

Meanwhile, the Distribution Staff of Bandarlampung Baznas, Rizki, said that in order to encourage ASN to pay zakat through Baznas, the local municipal government has issued a circular letter (SE).

"So the Mayor's SE has been distributed before the month of Ramadan, which states that every Muslim employee is obliged to pay zakat fitrah through the Bandarlampung City Baznas," he said.

He said that until now the zakat fitrah that had been collected from civil servants (PNS) of Bandar Lampung City had reached more than Rp. 270 million.

"The deadline is until the end of Ramadan for the payment of zakat fitrah, before the Eid prayer 1 Shawwal 1443 H," he said.
