Attending The Easter Dawn Of The Immanuel Church, Anies Alludes To The Revitalization Carried Out By His Staff

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan attended the Easter Dawn of the Protestant Church in Western Indonesia (GPIB) Immanuel, Central Jakarta, this morning.

When delivering his speech in front of Christians, Anies mentioned the revitalization of the Immanuel Church carried out by the DKI Provincial Government, in this case the DKI Culture Office last year.

Anies viewed that the moment of the Fajar GPIB Immanuel service was special because the Imperial architectural style church was completely revitalized and inaugurated again in December 2021.

“Standing in this place feels a very different atmosphere, every year the effort is made to come. This time it is quite unique, because the revitalization has been completed," said Anies at the location, Sunday, April 17.

Anies said that the revitalization of the church was not just a physical restoration. Anies emphasized that the Immanuel Church must be a place for activities and provide shade for both the management and the congregation.

The former Minister of Education and Culture hopes that the shade and peace that the Immanuel Church brings can also be felt by all residents of Jakarta.

"A church is not just about a building, a church is about the congregation there, about activities, prayers and light of shade, peace to all who surround it," said Anies.

"Therefore, we are very grateful that part of our task (the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government) has been fulfilled when this revitalization is complete. The south side that used to be rarely seen, is now a place where the light shines so beautifully," he added.

Furthermore, Governor Anies also hopes that the shade and peace that the Immanuel Church brings can also be felt by all Jakarta residents. Thus, it is hoped that peace and unity can be further strengthened.
