Police Investigate Case Of Husband Burning Wife And Child In Kudus

KUDUS - Kudus Resort Police, Central Java, is still investigating the case of a husband in Gebog, Kudus, who burned his wife and child until his son who was only 1.5 months old died.

"The perpetrator has surrendered and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital due to a fire. However, the perpetrators are still being guarded to anticipate things that are not desirable," said Kudus Police Chief AKBP Wiraga Dimas Tama quoted by Antara, Saturday, 16 April.

After the perpetrator showed improvement in his health, his party asked for further information related to the case. The police have also examined witnesses.

The arsonist was named Agus Suwarno (husband), while the victims were named Sulistiana (wife) and Muhammad Syarif Abdullah (child) aged 1.5 months.

Based on information from the victim's brother, Edi Kusmanto (38), the incident occurred on Saturday (16/4) at around 08.00 WIB when he heard screams for help from his brother's house which is next to his extended family's house.

After visiting the victim's house, it turned out that the door to the house was locked and had to be forced open. After successfully entering, it turned out that her sister-in-law who was suspected of being the perpetrator, Sulistiana and her child was burned in the room.

"With improvised tools, the fire was extinguished. My sister, Sulistiana, had burns all over her body, as well as her child was also burned. Then I took her to the hospital," he said.

The arsonist is currently undergoing treatment at the Kudus Hospital, while the two victims were rushed to the Kudus Islamic Hospital (RSI) Kudus. However, his son died on the way to the hospital.

Doctor of RSUD Loekmono Hadi Kudus Listiana revealed that the condition of the patient on behalf of Agus Suwarno suffered burns up to 90 percent, while his condition was traumatized in the lungs.

"The patient is at risk of dehydration and infection. Because he is not calm and in pain, he is finally given a sedative," he said.

Meanwhile, Director of RSI Sunan Kudus Ahmad Syaifuddin confirmed that his party received two fire victims. The condition of his son at that time had died. Meanwhile, his mother is in such a severe condition that she is still undergoing intensive care.
