JAKARTA - Dozens of women who call their group Srikandi Ganjar, West Java, have declared their support for Ganjar Pranowo so that they can run and become president in the 2024 General Election.

Regional Coordinator of Srikandi Ganjar West Java, Evi Yuliani, in Bandung, said they supported Ganjar because the figure was considered to have a close relationship with women.

"This Ganjar figure has a close relationship with women, one of which has a program regarding women's empowerment," he said in a statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 16.

According to him, a leader should not exclude women in Indonesia. So he also hopes that if Ganjar becomes president, the Indonesian environment will be more friendly for women.

"Leading a better and certainly more advanced Indonesia, and more concerned with the position of women in politics and also in the realm of education," he said.

He said the support was done to create a better Indonesian leadership. He also invited millennial women in West Java to make it happen by supporting Ganjar. "To change the leadership for the better, of course, one of them in West Java has millennials who are more than 60 percent of the total DPT (permanent voter list)," he said.

Meanwhile, representatives from students for Srikandi Ganjar West Java, Siska Kurnia Dewi, hoped that Ganjar could bring the aspirations of students to the business of improving the realm of education in Indonesia. "Hopefully when Mr. Ganjar becomes president, education in Indonesia will be better, especially for women," he said.
