MAGETAN - Joint officers from the Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag) of Magetan Regency, East Java, went to the field raiding local modern shops to prevent food and drinks from being unfit for consumption ahead of Eid 2022.

Head of the Magetan Industry and Trade Agency, Sucipto, said that the targets of the activity were food and beverages that had expired, did not have a distribution permit, or damaged packaging. The officers checked one by one the food and drinks, including the Eid parcels.

"We carry out inspections to prevent the circulation of illegal or unlicensed food, rejected, expired or production defects which if consumed can harm consumers," Sucipto said in Magetan, Friday, April 15.

When inspected in the Magetan City area, officers did not find expired food and drinks. Only found damaged packaging, and immediately asked not to be sold and pulled from the window.

"There was also a Kinder Joy egg chocolate product which BPOM asked to withdraw from sales because it was suspected that it was exposed to bacteria. The product is still on display, we asked to be withdrawn," he said.

During the inspection, officers also found canned beef and pork on the same shelf. "Therefore, we ask modern store managers to sell them in separate places to anticipate if there are buyers who take the wrong one," he said.

Not only in the city, the joint inspection was also carried out in modern shops in suburban areas, such as Plaosan District and local traditional markets. This is done because at this time, many traders are starting to sell various cakes ahead of Eid.

"We ask traders in both modern and traditional stores to regularly check their merchandise, especially to monitor the expiration date to protect consumers," Sucipto said.

He added that inspections would continue to be carried out at a number of other shops and traditional markets until Eid 2022.
