JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked the central government for support related to the development of Jakarta, from flood management to the construction of simple flats.

He conveyed this in the Musrenbang of the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) of DKI Jakarta Province which was attended by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, members of the legislature, and the ranks of the DKI Provincial Government.

In preparing the plans for 2023 to 2026, Anies realized that Jakarta's development could be carried out with collaboration from all parties.

"We hope for support from the central government, especially related to handling river flow capacity in various river areas that pass across provinces," Anies said at the virtual RKPD Musrenbang, Thursday, April 14.

Then, Anies asked the central government to assist in the construction and improvement of sea walls and other coastal protection structures in the northern coastal area, as well as completing the upstream-downstream master plan so that river water control can be integrated, effective, and efficient.

In addition, Anies also asked for assistance in completing the construction of SPAM 1 Jatiluhur and also Serpong Karian for the downstream scope of DKI Jakarta, the construction of the Jakarta Sewerage System in addition to completing the MRT construction, and also completing several projects for the construction of simple flats.

"It is hoped that the support from the central government can be a stimulus for accelerating Jakarta's transformation, as well as solving several problems that have existed for decades, which we need to solve," said Anies.

Anies revealed that Jakarta's development planning is directed at building the hard infrastructure and soft infrastructure needed to support Jakarta to play a role as a global city and as a hub for activities in the archipelago, in the region, and in the world.

The former Minister of Education and Culture said that efforts to realize Jakarta's hopes of becoming a global city is not a simple road.

"The approach that needs to be taken is not only preparing in terms of development planning to support the strengthening of Jakarta as a global city, but also requires development planning to solve urban problems that still exist so far," he explained.
