JAKARTA - Madiun City Government, East Java allocated Rp 5 billion through the 2022 Financial Budget Amendment (PAK) to build cottages for the elderly (elderly) in the local area.

Mayor of Madiun Maidi said the construction of the elderly hut aims to facilitate the elderly in Madiun City, in particular, for the elderly who have not been cared for.

"The location of the elderly cottage will be around the Bumi Semendung MSME. Now it is in the process of building the road," said Mayor Maidi in Madiun, Wednesday, April 13, as reported by Antara.

According to data, there are currently 179 elderly in Madiun City who are old and need treatment. Meanwhile, Madiun City does not yet have a special place to care for the elderly.

"In this elderly cottage, there will be special officers who take care of the elderly," he said.

The elderly cottage is planned to be built on a 2-hectare land with assets from the Madiun City Government. In the area will be built various facilities that support the health of the elderly. Such as, houses of worship, sports locations, and parks.

"The concept is that elderly men and women are separated from left to right. Then, in the middle there is a mosque and a fountain. The concept is from me," he said.

The former Secretary of the City of Madiun hopes that the construction of the elderly cottage can be completed this year. So, starting next year, it can be operated to care for the elderly in need.

"Later, while improvements will be made in the next fiscal year. With the construction of this elderly cottage, it is hoped that the welfare of the elderly in Madiun City can increase," he said.
