Red River In Denpasar, Screen Printing Business Owner Fined IDR 2.5 Million

DENPASAR - The owner of a screen printing business on Jalan Kebo Iwa Utara, Swamandala Housing, Denpasar, Bali, which pollutes the river until the color turns red is fined Rp. 2.5 million.

This sanction was imposed on the defendant Sumadi in the trial for minor crimes (tipiring) at the Denpasar District Court.

The trial, led by judge I Putu Sayoga and court clerk Ni Komang Sri Utami, imposed a fine of IDR 2.5 million for waste disposal which caused the river flow in the West Denpasar area to turn red.

Meanwhile, Denpasar City Satpol PP Head, AA Ngurah Bawa Nendra said Denpasar City Satpol PP together with the DLHK joint team moved quickly to find the source of the pollution that caused the water to change color in the flow of Jalan Mahendradata and Jalan Gunung Gede to turn red.

"Of course this has been carried out by an investigation by observing, analyzing and proving, as well as testing the water content of the river. From these results, it was found that the source of pollution was from the screen printing or dyeing business," he said.

The business carried out by a man named Sumadi violates Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 1 of 2015 concerning Public Order.

"This inspection and tipping is not to find fault, but to enforce local regulations and disseminate local regulations themselves so that people can apply and obey them and there will be a deterrent effect," he added.

Ngurah Bawa Nendra said that the Satpol PP responded quickly to public reports regarding environmental order.

"To eradicate similar problems in a sustainable manner, a comprehensive synergy of all components is needed in order to minimize violations of regional regulations and laws," he said.

"We will also give sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations. The community also has an important role with village officials to monitor violations and report to the relevant agencies," said Bawa Nendra.
