JAKARTA - Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives held a working meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), KPU RI, Bawaslu RI, and the Honorary Council for Election Organizers (DKPP) to discuss preparations for the 2024 General Election. Tito considered that the ranks of the Indonesian KPU needed to work hard starting from the review of the old KPU policies regarding the 2024 Election. The reason, he said, was that of all the newly inaugurated KPU ranks, only Hasyim Asyari was the incumbent. He also emphasized that the government would stick to a joint decision. with the DPR regarding the election date.

Bawaslu to pay attention to security aspects in the implementation of general elections (elections). Because according to him, with different choices, there is a potential for conflict.

"Society will definitely be different in their choices, divided on their choices. From a security point of view, any differences will inevitably contain conflicts. The important conflict is not destructive, but the conflict needs to be managed in such a way,” said Tito. The former National Police Chief hopes that the election organizers plan well for the entire series and stages, from preparation, registration to counting. "Therefore, planning must be rigid," said Tito.

Tito reminded that holding elections must learn from the events of the 2019 election, which had a long campaign period of seven months. According to him, this has opened wide polarization due to the emergence of identity politics and SARA.

"Then our people learned that in 2019 where the campaign period was almost 7 months, we saw that there was identity politics, sara politics that came out, it was vulnerable," said Tito.

Tito added, learning from the 2019 election, it is hoped that the 2024 election will be really mature. So it is no longer the case that 894 KPPS officers died because in its implementation it was considered less safe for health.
