2024 Election Budget Estimated At Rp110 Trillion, DPR: To Protect Officers

JAKARTA - House of Representatives Commission II member Rifqinizamy Karsayuda said President Jokowi had estimated the 2024 election budget to reach Rp110 trillion. According to him, this is a "green light" for the government and the DPR to approve the 2024 election budget.

He considered the increase in the 2024 election budget because it was used for the protection or protection of election organizers at polling stations (TPS), villages and sub-districts.

"The keyword that makes the 2024 election budget bigger than the 2019 election is related to the ad hoc honorarium for election organizers at TPS, village and sub-district levels," Rifqi said in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 12.

He explained that the ad hoc organizers received a small fee, namely Rp. 500 thousand to Rp. 700 thousand. In fact, according to him, the organizers worked hard in preparing for the holding of the general election, even though many died in the 2019 election.

"The 2024 election budget figure of Rp. 86 trillion, Rp. 76 trillion, or Rp. 110 trillion is very relative, depending on our needs in order to intervene in the budget related to the 2024 Election," he said.

According to him, Commission II of the DPR RI will hold a Working Meeting (Raker) and Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP on Wednesday 13 April to discuss preparations for the 2024 election, including the required budget.

Previously, President Joko Widodo said that a budget of Rp. 110.4 trillion was needed to hold the general election and local elections in 2024.

"Yesterday, it was conveyed to me that an estimated budget of Rp110.4 trillion was for the KPU and Bawaslu," President Joko Widodo said in a limited meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Sunday, April 10.

According to President Jokowi, this amount consists of the budget for the General Election Commission (KPU) of Rp. 76.6 trillion and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of Rp. 33.8 trillion.
