SOLO - Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka rejected the idea of postponing the general election as well as the three-term presidential term. Even the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wants to be involved in demonstrations calling for the rejection of the discourse.

According to Gibran, demonstrations against the extension of the president's term of office that have been happening lately are perfectly legal in the realm of democratization. However, he hopes that it will be delivered in an orderly manner.

"Yes, it's okay (demo), conveying ordinary aspirations, no violence, please, just relax," said Gibra, quoted from the Surakarta News YouTube channel, Tuesday, April 12.

He also admitted that he wanted to participate in the mass action that voiced the rejection of extending the presidential term to three terms.

To the public who are aware of the demonstration against the extension of the head of state's power, Gibran hopes to be informed so that they can participate in the mass action.

"Nek Ono (if there is) a demonstration, rejecting the three-period demo is not necessary (I participate), Kandani Neng ngendi is not easy (tell me where I am participating)," said Gibran.

Gibran said that the democratic system in the country allows its citizens to channel their aspirations through a representative system in the executive and legislative branches.

Regarding his refusal if his father returned to office for the third time, he said, demonstrators in Solo could choose the location to convey their aspirations.

"We accommodate all aspirations, Grandma Neng (if in) the DPRD and Pak Budi (Chairman of the Solo DPRD, Budi Wahyono)," he added.

Gibran emphasized that he obeyed the constitution and followed the agreement of the DPR, the government and the organizers who determined that the 2024 General Election would be held in February 2024. "I follow the constitution. It's clear, the election should not be postponed, the date is clear, wes tho," he concluded.
