Proof Of The State's Presence, North Lombok Regency Government Assists Hundreds Of People With Disabilities

NORTH LOMBOK - The District Government of North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provided assistance to 235 persons with disabilities and 240 neglected children, as a form of state and regional concern for the underprivileged.

"I hope that this assistance can be used to its full potential," said North Lombok Regent Djohan Sjamsu during the symbolic handing over of basic food packages for people with disabilities and neglected children in Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency, Antara, Monday, April 11.

The North Lombok Regency Government, he said, continues to pay attention to the condition of people with disabilities, physical deficiencies, and neglected children.

Djohan added that even though they are people with disabilities, they must still be grateful to Allah SWT, because they are still given health and blessings.

"Alhamdulillah, my presence along with the ranks of the staff handed over assistance as a little effort to help the community. At least it is more calm to undergo fasting and feel happy together. Hopefully it can be used," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Department of Social Affairs, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) of North Lombok Regency, Faturrahman, stated that the number of disabled beneficiaries in Tanjung District was 47 people, while 48 abandoned children.

"The total number of beneficiaries in North Lombok Regency, in 2022, for people with disabilities is 235 people and 240 abandoned children," he said.

Furthermore, Faturrahman said that paying attention to people with disabilities and neglected children is one of the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) programs from the Ministry of Social Affairs, so the basic food program will run every year. The basic food assistance was given for six months, in the first phase it was given directly for two months.

He said the budget source came from the Regional Intensive Fund (DID) for neglected children of IDR 190 million and IDR 194 million for disabilities.

Especially for people with disabilities, the local government through the Social Service and PPPA of North Lombok Regency will provide assistance with wheelchairs, hearing aids, canes, prosthetic limbs and hands.

"Those who receive aid this year may not necessarily receive it again next year. This is because the budget and the number of recipients are very large," he said.
