BANDUNG - Volunteer Governor of West Java (Jabar) M Ridwan Kamil who is a member of the Indonesian National Champion Movement (GNIJ) in 10 provinces said he would soon hold a declaration of support for Ridwan Kamil to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election.

"Currently we are finalizing the plan for the declaration. So there are about seven to 10 provinces that will declare in the near future," said spokesman for the Indonesian National Champion Movement (GNIJ) Nunung Sanusi in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, April 11.

Nunung said the plan for the declaration movement would be from Aceh to Papua.

The first declaration was made by the GNIJ Volunteer Team for the Province of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and the declaration of support for Ridwan Kamil will be made on April 12, 2022.

Meanwhile, on April 14, the Provinces of Papua and Aceh simultaneously declared their support, then continued on April 15, 2022, namely the Province of North Sumatra and next on April 17, 2022 in Batam.

"And for West Java later on April 20. We are preparing to maximize it. Even with strict procedures and others," he said.

GNIJ explained the reasons for the strong support for Ridwan Kamil alias Kang Emil.

"Kang Emil is an extraordinary child of the nation. He started it as a lecturer, then became mayor, and now governor. The calculations are very mature, don't ignore achievements," he said.

In addition to representing a Sundanese figure, the former mayor of Bandung is also considered to have a number of achievements while serving as regional head as well as an architect.

"Known for his work everywhere, abroad or in various provinces. Kang Emil is also an architect. This makes it easier for us to convey information to friends in other provinces," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the West Java GNIJ Regional Executive, Syarif Hidayat, said that all volunteer representatives from 27 regions in West Java would declare their support for Kang Emil. Syarif hopes that this figure can become a presidential candidate representing the people of West Java.

"We must have national representation. Kang Emil is a proper person and we as a West Java community with a large population must be aware. This team wants to build public awareness," he said.
