JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono is promoting the Java Southern Coast Cross (Pansela) as an alternative route for travelers during this year's Eid besides the North Coast Cross (Pantura) and Central Java Island.

"One of the preparations is that this Pansela Cross can be an alternative for travelers, so that the traffic load is divided and does not pile up on the Pantura Cross and Central Java Cross," said Minister Basuki in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, April 10.

According to Basuki, President Joko Widodo ordered that preparations for the 2022 Eid homecoming be better than in previous years, given the very high enthusiasm of travelers after being unable to go home for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Pansela Cross that was built has passed from Bayah, Lebak Regency, Banten Province through Kebumen, Cilacap, Wonosari to Pacitan, East Java Province. In total, 1,242 km have been connected.

"The Pansela Road was built with funding from the APBN, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) starting 6 years ago, we will build it in stages. Later in 2024 we will continue until it is connected to Banyuwangi, East Java," Minister Basuki said, quoted by Antara.

With the existence of three homecoming routes on the island of Java, Minister Basuki hopes that the burden will be divided during the homecoming period. For that, he invites the public to take advantage of the Pansela road with beautiful views that pass through many coastal tourist sites.

The scenery is beautiful and instagrammable, so for those who pass this route, hopefully, the Lebaran holiday will be memorable with the family.

The Pansela road stretches across 5 provinces on the island of Java, namely Banten Province with the Labuhan-Batas Intersection section of West Java Province along 169.5 km, then in West Java Province with a section from the Banten Province boundary at Sindang Barang to the Central Java Province boundary along 417, 1 km.

Then Lintas Pansela in Central Java Province with sections starting from the boundaries of West Java Province, Congot-Duwet to Glonggong along 212.5 km.

Furthermore, in the DI Yogyakarta Province with the Karang Nongko-Legundi to Duwet section along 120.8 km. Finally, the sections in East Java Province with the Panggul - Sendangbiru - Jarit - Puger to Glenmore sections along 627.6 km.

Handling the Trans Pansela Jawa is carried out through the construction of new roads, road preservation or maintenance activities, rehabilitation, reconstruction of roads and bridges and widening of roads to standards, which are sustainable to maintain roads in a stable condition.
