Ganjar Pranowo Supports Bobby Nasution Fixing The Old Town Of Kesawan Medan

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution's desire to fix and develop heritage areas in Medan City received support and appreciation from the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo.

Because the efforts made by the number one person in the Medan City Government are considered an extraordinary breakthrough because they have given great attention to historical icons (heritage) in the capital city of North Sumatra Province.

This support was conveyed by Ganjar Pranowo while visiting several heritage buildings in the Kesawan Old Town area with Bobby Nasution, Friday, April 8.

The first heritage area visited was Maktab Al Islamiyah Tapanuli (Al Washliyah Museum) which is located on Jalan Hindu, Kesawan Village, West Medan District.

At that place, Bobby Nasution and Ganjar Pranowo looked from corner to corner while listening to a brief history of the beginning of the establishment of the Al Washliyah Museum. Then on foot, then go to Tjong A Fie's house on Jalan Jend Ahmad Yani while greeting the residents.

Arriving at Tjong A Fie's House, Bobby and Ganjar entered the building which is a cultural heritage while hearing a brief history from the guide.

Ganjar admitted that he was amazed by the figure of Tjong A Fie who was very generous, often helped the sick, provided scholarships for underprivileged children and did not differentiate between nations as written on one of the papers on the wall of Tjong A Fie's house.

"His real work is the Bent Mosque which was built by the Tjong A Fie family. That is what shows the diversity that exists here. The mosque needs to be equipped with existing books and stories. a story telling or a story from his past. That way the public will know it, "said Ganjar.

Furthermore, Ganjar expressed his support for Bobby Nasution who wanted to fix and develop heritage areas in Medan City, one of which was the Old Town of Kesawan.

"Yes, Medan is good. Earlier I had a chat with Mr. Bobby, it turns out that he is moving this to be repaired and arranged. Of course this is not easy, he has also been to Semarang, studied and exchanged ideas. Semarang and similar. In fact, it feels even more in Medan, "he said.

Although it is not easy to develop a Heritage Area, Ganjar is sure that Bobby can do it. “Just slowly fix it, this (Kesawan old Town area) will be an amazing place. It can be a tourist place, a place of history and people learn about civilization," he explained.

After being satisfied walking around and listening to Tjong A Fie's brief history, Bobby and Ganjar took a motorized tricycle (betor) which is the original traditional transportation of Medan City to the Bent Mosque on Jalan Masjid which is located not far from Tjong A Fie's house to perform Friday prayers.

This Bent Mosque is one of the heritages in Medan City. The Bent Mosque is the second oldest mosque in Medan after the Al-Osmani Grand Mosque.
