Police Secure Dozens Of Wild Racing Motorcycles In Samarinda

SAMARINDA - Satlantas Polresta Samarinda, East Kalimantan, secured dozens of two-wheeled vehicles during an operation to control illegal racing in Samarinda City, entering the beginning of Ramadan this year.

"We have secured about 18 motorbikes at the Resort Police," said Head of Traffic Unit of the Samarinda Police, Commissioner Creato Sonitehe Gulo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 6.

Dozens of two-wheeled vehicles were secured by police officers when conducting raids around Jalan Kusuma Bangsa, Samarinda Kota District.

"The incident in Kusuma Bangsa near the Mesra Hotel. The area is prone to illegal racing," he added.

Gulo also said that when entering the beginning of Ramadan, the Bhayangkara Corps is currently refocusing its attention on the illegal racing actions of young people which are considered disturbing to the public.

"It is true that throughout the month of Ramadan we formed an Anti-Illegal Racing Task Force Team. Later this team will be active in the field to take action during the month of Ramadan," he said.

In addition to Jalan Kusuma Bangsa, Gulo continued, the Anti-Bali Task Force Team also focused on raids in several areas such as around the Alaya intersection, Mahulu Bridge, and the Samarinda Seberang area.

"We also always move to follow them. Because there are some areas that are often used as race locations in Samarinda. For those who are caught, of course we will give administrative sanctions in the form of a ticket," he said.

Illegal racing in Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, began to bloom when entering the beginning of Ramadan, especially before dawn.

Usually this illegal racing starts from a convoy of motorized vehicles by young people after the tarawih prayer is finished.

They began to gather in certain locations before 01.00 in the morning, and after the community grew more and more they held wild racing events around the location.
