JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin supports the plan to restore Pancasila as a separate subject in the education curriculum, as stipulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 4 of 2022 concerning National Education Standards.

"I support and welcome efforts to implement Pancasila values to students, from elementary school to university students and alumni, both at home and abroad, as well as the wider community, including businessmen," said Ma' ruf while receiving an audience with the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) at the vice president's official residence in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, April 6.

During the meeting, Ma'ruf also received BPIP's report on implementing the values of Pancasila. According to him, politically, the Indonesian people have established Pancasila as the basis of the state.

However, the implementation of Pancasila values still requires various efforts so that it can be understood and implemented properly in people's lives.

"Until now, there are still parties who argue, for example between Pancasila and Islam. If there is Pancasila, there is no Islam, if there is Islam, there is no Pancasila. Maybe it needs to be given proper explanations, so that no one else will contrast between Pancasila and religion," he explained.

The vice president also emphasized the importance of inculcating Pancasila values in building superior human resources (HR), who are not only skilled and innovative, but also have a high understanding of nationality.

In addition, in particular, the Vice President also emphasized the importance of socializing the values of Pancasila to business people. Without a national commitment, he continued, entrepreneurs will only think about profits without heeding the suffering of the people.

The vice president asked BPIP to design the right strategy so that the values of Pancasila are easily understood and understood by various groups.

Meanwhile, Head of BPIP Yudian Wahyudi in the meeting reported that starting the new school year in July 2022, Pancasila will be taught again as a separate lesson.

To support this policy, BPIP has compiled 15 Pancasila textbooks from early childhood education (PAUD) to tertiary institutions.

"We have tested this book and we have asked for opinions from Commission II (DPR), the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, as well as from the Minister of Religion, community leaders; so that in principle this book has no problems," said Yudian.

BPIP has also compiled several Pancasila education guidebooks for the TNI, Polri, and state civil apparatus (ASN).
