JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that asset recovery is their focus apart from uncovering criminal acts at the national and regional levels.

"Currently, apart from uncovering major cases at the national and regional levels, the KPK is seriously improving its asset recovery performance," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, April 6.

Not only that, Firli said his institution would continue to work to eradicate corruption. One way to do this is by carrying out prevention and education, as well as being involved in the Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) of the G20.

"The function of prevention and education, as well as involvement in the ACWG G20 have influenced the image of our handling of corruption in the eyes of the world," said the former Deputy for Enforcement of the Corruption Eradication Commission.

Firli understands that many parties often criticize the performance of her institution. However, he ensured that the KPK would continue to work and that any criticism that came in would be used as an evaluation material.

"There are ups and downs in the level of public confidence in the performance of each institution. Whatever the dynamics reflected in the survey results will always be the material for evaluating the performance of our institution," said Firli.

Previously, the Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators Burhanuddin Muhtadi said the level of public trust in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had a downward trend over the past three years.

As of February 2019, the number of public trust in the KPK decreased to 72 percent, declining again in November 2021 to 71.1 percent. This figure began to increase slightly in February 2022 to 74 percent.

"Since 2018 was the first time the KPK (public trust) has been detected, we have detected quite a high level. Then from 2019, 2020, 2021 to 2022, the trust has decreased," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi in a survey presentation, Sunday, April 3.

In fact, in 2018, the level of public trust in the KPK had exceeded the level of trust in the Police and the Prosecutor's Office. However, after the revision of the KPK Law, the trend continued to decline.
