KPHP Mukomuko Finds Illegal Timber In State Forest

MUKOMUKO - The Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP) of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu, during a patrol in two state forests in this area found evidence of illegal timber in the two forests.

"The wood evidence found in the state forest in this area is the result of illegal logging carried out by irresponsible persons," said Weli Sulastri, a KPHP official in Mukomuko Regency, in a statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, April 5.

According to him, who is also the head of the patrol team, the evidence of illegal timber was found in two locations in the Air Rami Production Forest (HP) and Air Manjuto Limited Production Forest (HPT).

He said officers who patrolled state forest security in this area found 5.8 cubic meters of illegal wood from Air Rami's HP in this area. Then from the results of consultations and negotiations with the local resort police officers who carried out security at PT Daria Darma Pratama (DDP) and the consideration of the difficulty of bringing wood out of the forest so that the wood was destroyed by chopping it up.

Furthermore, officers found 26 illegal logs in the Sungai Bahan and Sangkil areas which are in the Air Manjunto HPT in the District V Koto area.

Then, he said, KPHP officers together with Polsek V Koto personnel destroyed dozens of illegal logs by chopping them up.

He said that KPHP officers already knew one of the people who was a barman for illegal timber at HP Air Rami, but the officers were unable to meet the cukong or the person who provided the capital to carry out illegal logging.

"We are only friends with some of the workers at the location, but we have received information regarding the identity of the person who ordered the workers to illegally log wood in the Air Rami HP," he said.

Meanwhile, in forest security activities in this area, the KPHP officers in addition to socializing the rules governing the prohibition of encroachment and registering people who carry out activities in the forest area.
