BANDUNG - The public prosecutor (JPU) from the West Java High Court indicted the preacher Bahar Smith for spreading false information regarding the arrest of Rizieq Shihab.

In the trial for reading the indictment at the Bandung District Court (PN) Class IA Special, the Public Prosecutor read Bahar Smith's lecture about the arrest of Rizieq Shihab for holding the Maulid Nabi activity. In fact, said the prosecutor, the information is not true.

The prosecutor stated that Bahar Smith's actions violated Article 14 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) and Article 15 of Law no. 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations and/or Article 28 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph 2 of Law no. 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) number 1E of the Criminal Code.
