PAMEKASAN - The government of Pamekasan Regency, East Java, has prohibited food stall owners from opening and serving food shoppers on the spot during the day during the month of Ramadan. This policy is to respect Muslims who are fasting.

According to the Head of Investigation at the Pamong Praja Police Unit (Satpol PP) of the Pamekasan Regency, Rahman Ainur, the provisions of the ban are in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) that have been set by the Pamekasan Regency Government during Ramadan.

"It is not allowed to open in the morning until noon. It can be opened from the afternoon until the evening," he said in Pamekasan, Antara, Sunday, April 3.

He explained that the provisions regarding the prohibition of selling food and drinks during the day were for all shop owners.

According to him, the Satpol PP of the Pamekasan Regency Government has conveyed the provisions regarding the prohibition of opening stalls from morning to noon to all shop owners in Pamekasan.

"We have sent a letter, and conveyed the socialization directly, with the hope that the shop owners can comply with this provision," he said.

Apart from stall owners, the same provisions also apply to restaurant, depot and restaurant entrepreneurs. Those who violate the provisions will be subject to sanctions, in the form of verbal warnings, written warnings, forced closures, and revocation of business licenses.

"But special stalls, depots or restaurants in the terminal are allowed, because those selling there are specifically for people on the way," he said.

Muslims in Pamekasan started fasting Ramadan 1443 on April 3, 2022 in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Religion. Some of them have carried out fasting on April 2, 2022 based on a circular from the Muhammadiyah Central Executive.
