"Fights occurred at a number of points this morning, from there we arrested as many as twelve teenagers," said Head of the Operations Section of the Padang Police, Kompol Andi P Lorena, in Padang, Sunday, April 1, as reported by Antara.

In addition to teenagers who are still in their teens on average, the police also seized a number of tools used as weapons, ranging from wood to iron made to resemble machetes.

The twelve teenagers and their weapons were immediately brought by the police to the Padang Police Station for further processing.

"For them, coaching will be carried out and their parents and Bhabinkamtibmas will be summoned in their respective areas. If there are indications of a criminal act, it will be processed criminally," he explained.

One of the teenagers who was detained by the police, namely R (16) denied that he was involved in a brawl, arguing that he was just sitting around with friends.

On the other hand, the police appealed to the public, especially parents, to pay more attention to the whereabouts of their respective children from night to morning.

"We see that most of the brawlers are children with an age range of thirteen to seventeen, so let's take care of each other's children," he said.

The police noted that from year to year each month of Ramadan comes, the potential for brawls and illegal racing in the local city will be higher.

Residents who are active at night until the early hours of the morning are also advised to remain careful of valuables and objects to avoid theft.

The Padang Police urges people who see or know of brawls and illegal racing to immediately report to the police.
