JAKARTA - Suppressing the volume of waste that continues to soar and burden the Bantargebang Pulmonary Waste Management Site (TPST), Bekasi, West Java, is a tough task that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Anies Baswedan must pay attention to. There are many ways to do it.

One of the efforts that can be a solution is to build a Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS3R) Waste Processing Site in all areas of Jakarta. For this reason, DKI Jakarta DPRD member, Nova Harivan Paloh, asked the DKI Environmental Service to immediately multiply and accelerate the construction of TPS3R.

"We hope that if the TPS3R is realized properly in each region, the waste can be managed properly and reduce waste to Bantargebang," Nova said in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

Nova reminded that the Bantargebang TPST, which has been operating since 1989, is now critical, especially since Jakarta contributes around 7,700 to 8,000 tons of waste per day.

"So don't let this garbage pile up on trucks and all be taken to TPS. Moreover, Bantargebang cannot solve 100 percent of the waste problem in DKI," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, admitted that he was ready to add and accelerate the construction of TPS3R with a prepared budget of Rp. 172.5 billion.

"We have indeed carried out optimization since 2020. This year there is a budget for TPS3R at 15 points and the purchase of crusher machines," he said.

Asep explained, so far TPS3R has been in 22 points in East Jakarta and four in Central Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Head of the South Jakarta Environmental Agency, Mohamad Amin, said that in his area there was not a single TPS3R. This is because the projected development to start in 2020 is affected by budget refocusing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, Amin continued, TPS3R in South Jakarta is planned to be built in Kramat Pela Kebayoran Baru, Kalibata Indah, and Pondok Pinang Kebayoran Lama.

"In 2020 there was a budget to make TPS3R but it was focused. In 2022 it will only be executed, because there is only a budget," he said.
