Nahar said the incident came to light after the East Belitung Child Protection Agency (LPA) which carried out socialization at the elementary school received a report from one of the victims, the victim and thirteen other friends were sexually assaulted by a school guard.

Nahar appreciates the courage of the victim who has dared to speak up so that this case is revealed.

The Ministry of PPPA requested that law enforcement officers be able to give punishment to the perpetrators in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

"The perpetrator can be charged with Article 82 of Law Number 17 of 2016 with a minimum imprisonment of five years and a maximum of 15 years and if it is proven that the perpetrator is a school guard who is an educational staff, the penalty can be increased by a third of the previous criminal threat and the perpetrator may be subject to additional punishment in the form of announcement of the identity of the perpetrator," said Nahar.
