KUPANG - The East Nusa Tenggara High Prosecutor's Office handed over 30 hectares of land worth Rp. 1.3 trillion to the NTT Provincial Government which was the result of the confiscation of the prosecutor's office in the corruption case of Karanga land assets belonging to the West Manggarai Regency Government.

The head of the NTT High Prosecutor's Office, Wisnu Hutama, handed over the land assets to the Governor of NTT, Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in Kupang, Friday, April 1.

The Head of the High Prosecutor's Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Wisnu Hutama explained, in returning assets, each region must be able to manage its assets to be used for the benefit of the community.

"To manage assets, proper attention must be paid to administrative order, physical order, in this case physical security and legal order," said Wisnu Hutama as quoted by Antara.

According to him, every local government, both provincial and district and city governments, must take this matter seriously.

"We ask the West Manggarai Regency Government to protect these assets properly and manage them properly to bring benefits to the country, especially the people in the area," said Winus Hutama.

He explained that the handover of the land assets after the corruption case that cost the state Rp1.3 trillion had permanent legal force.

The NTT Prosecutor's Office ensures that it supports the NTT Government in structuring all regional assets which have not been managed properly due to administrative constraints.

"We will continue to oversee and assist the government in returning all the assets of the area," said Wisnu Hutama.

The land assets were handed over by Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat to the Regent of West Manggarai, Edistasius Endy.
