BABEL - The Belitung Regency Regional Government (Pemda) said it would not prohibit traders from selling food during the month of Ramadan 2022. However, the regional government in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province recommended that restaurant business managers install curtains during Muslim fasting hours.

"The installation of curtains or coverings aims to respect and appreciate Muslims who are fasting," said Belitung Regional Secretary, MZ Hendra Caya in Tanjung Pandan, Friday, March 1.

This is based on the Circular of the Regent of Belitung Number: 451.1/317/II/2022 concerning Arrangements for Organizing Entertainment, Restaurant and Recreation Businesses in the Holy Month of Ramadan 1443 Hijriah.

According to him, the circular stated that restaurant businesses including restaurants, food stalls, canteens, coffee shops and other similar culinary businesses must organize their business by installing curtains or cloth covering the view during the day.

"They are still allowed to open or carry out their business activities by installing curtains or blinds," he said.

He said, while businesses including restaurants and drinks with entertainment (cafes), bars, pubs, karaoke, internet cafes, spas, massage parlors and other similar businesses were closed during the holy month of Ramadan 1443 Hijri.

"However, the entertainment business attached to the management of hotels or inns is opened only to serve guests staying at the hotel until 21:00 WIB," he said, quoting Antara.

He appealed to business actors to maintain a conducive atmosphere by packaging the appearance of their business arrangement, maintaining order and security in carrying out their business activities, maintaining a sense of tolerance and respecting people who are fasting.

Supervision will be carried out by an integrated patrol team involving Satpol PP, TNI/Polri, religious leaders and local community leaders.

"Every person or business entity that has a license violating these provisions will be given administrative sanctions such as written warnings, temporary suspension of all activities and revocation of permits," he said.
