Jokowi's Leadership Completed In 2024, Why Does Polmatrix Keep Making Candidates For Presidential Candidates In The Latest Survey?

JAKARTA - There is something interesting from the results of the latest Polmatrix Indonesia survey. There, Joko Widodo's name was included in the 2024 presidential candidate.

The era of President Jokowi's leadership with Vice President Maruf Amin itself will end in 2024. Jokowi is no longer possible to hold office because he has served two terms, as happened to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono before.

However, in the past few weeks, the discourse on postponing the election has become a wild ball. Several political parties in the coalition have been busy calling for the election to be postponed for various reasons. But not a few are also opposed because it violates the constitution.

Jokowi himself admitted that he had often heard of encouragement so that he could return to the position of President of the Republic of Indonesia in the third term.

"Hehehe. The name of the people's desire, the name of the shouts like that I have often heard," said Jokowi, Wednesday, March 30 yesterday.

However, Jokowi emphasized that he still adheres to the existing constitution, namely the 1945 Constitution. The term of office of the president and vice president is for five years and can be re-elected only for one term.

But Polmatrix Indonesia still makes the former governor of DKI as a presidential candidate. Jokowi is competing with other populist names who have been alternately in the top three.

The Polmatrix Indonesia survey was conducted from 11 to 20 March 2022 to 2,000 respondents representing 34 provinces. The sample of women is slightly more than men.

Most respondents were taken from the age range of 36-50 years. And the smallest is the novice picker.

The survey method was multistage random sampling with a margin of error of around 2.2 percent for the survey with a confidence level of 95 percent.

The Executive Director of Polmatrix Indonesia said the survey results showed that Joko Widodo's electability if he was appointed as a presidential candidate was still the highest compared to other figures.

"The findings of the Polmatrix Indonesia survey show that Jokowi's electability is the highest, reaching 40.5 percent," said the Alumni of Agricultural Socio-Economic Affairs, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, Thursday, March 31.

With this achievement, the electability of names that often appear in the 2024 Presidential Candidate Exchange is under pressure. For example, Prabowo Subianto, in the December 2021 survey, recorded 19.5 percent, but has now dropped to 12.8 percent.

Likewise, the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, who excelled in the December 2021 survey by 19.5 percent but dropped to 9.5 percent.

In contrast to the two names, the electability of DPR Chair Puan Maharani actually started to creep up. Previously, the PDI-P politician only won 1.4 percent electability, but now it has increased to 3.0 percent.

In full, the top four and five positions were occupied by Anies Baswedan, respectively, with 9.0 percent electability and 4.7 percent of Ridwan Kamil. Furthermore, Sandiaga Uno 2.9 percent, Erick Thohir 2.3 percent and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono 2.0 percent.
