Bareskrim Rejects Musni Umar's Report On Defamation: Not Sufficient Evidence

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has rejected the report made by the Chancellor of the Ibn Chaldun University, Musni Umar regarding defamation. This is because the evidence attached is considered insufficient.

"Indeed, there is some evidence that we have not fulfilled, so with that we have to complete the evidence first," said Musni Umar's attorney, Husein Marasabessy to reporters, Wednesday, March 30.

The evidence that is considered lacking is the legalization of the professor's title. Meanwhile, the attached evidence is considered insufficient as a basis for reporting.

"Investigators ask for the authenticity of the documents we have, indeed we have already legalized them, but according to investigators this cannot be used as a basis, they must be original documents, so we will complete them," he said.

"The document regarding our client's honorary degree as a professor at one of the overseas universities, we have brought legalized evidence, but because we asked for the original, we will coordinate with the university later," he continued.

Therefore, said Husien, his party will first complete the supporting evidence. Then, return to the Criminal Investigation Unit to make a report.

"We will come back here to report back," said Husein.

On the previous occasion, Musni Umar underwent an examination at the Polda Metro Jaya, on Monday, March 28. He is the reported party in the alleged forgery case, using diplomas, certificates of competence and academic degrees.

However, Musni Umar claims that the title of professor he bears has been officially granted by two universities.

"So indeed my professor is not recorded or recorded, there is no decision from the president or minister. But that does not mean he is a fake," said Musni.

The professor's title, called Musni Umar, was a gift from Ibn Chaldun University and Asia University, Malaysia. Therefore, the title was emphasized by Musni Umar, there is no need to doubt it.

"It's official that there is an awarding speech and it's impossible for me to carry a fake or fake one. It's official and these two institutions are well accredited," he explained.
