IKN Development Observer, KPK Chair: We Make Sure Not One Rupiah Is Corrupted

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri stated that his party had paid full attention to the development of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago from the start. Each stage must be monitored to close the gap for the emergence of corruption.

"Since the beginning, the KPK has been concerned about every stage, starting from land acquisition, infrastructure development, including the development of government transfers and everything accordingly, so that it can run," Firli told reporters at the Senayan Parliament Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 30.

In an effort to monitor this budget, continued Firli, the KPK has communicated with various ministries and institutions that are stakeholders. This includes the IKN Nusantara Authority, which is led by Bambang Susantono-Dhony Rahajoe.

In addition, the KPK has also formed an IKN Task Force which will later be tasked with guarding and preventing. The goal is to close the gaps in corruption as early as possible.

"We hope that IKN development can run smoothly and as early as possible we make sure that not even 1 rupiah should be corrupted by the organizers of the IKN development itself," he said.

Furthermore, Firli also spoke about the discourse of crowdfunding for IKN development. He said, the source of funds from third parties must be accounted for later.

"If the source of IKN development comes from the state, of course we can monitor it and can follow how much money is prepared in the APBN for IKN development," he explained.

"If the source of the funds is from a third party, of course the treatment must be the same as the accountability for funds from the APBN. So you have to know where the source comes from, how much, what is used for and finally how to implement it, including accountability," concluded Firli.
