Adhering To The MUI Fatwa, The COVID-19 Task Force Continues To Promote COVID-19 Vaccination During Ramadan 2022

JAKARTA - The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 continues to boost COVID-19 vaccination during Ramadan 2022. This is in accordance with the fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) namely that COVID-19 vaccination does not cancel fasting.

"Vaccination efforts will continue to be carried out entering the month of Ramadan because according to the MUI Fatwa Number 13 of 2021 that vaccination during fasting does not invalidate fasting," said Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito in a virtual press conference Tuesday, March 29.

Wiku emphasized that the COVID-19 vaccination is one of the conditions for carrying out the 2022 Eid homecoming. People who have received a booster or booster vaccine can carry out homecoming without taking a COVID-19 test.

Meanwhile, those who have undergone the second and first doses of vaccination can carry out Lebaran 2022 homecoming after having negative results from COVID-19 testing.

Wiku said the central government continues to encourage local governments to accelerate booster vaccinations for optimal protection, in accordance with President Joko Widodo's directives.

Several regions have succeeded in accelerating vaccination, according to the Coordinator of the COVID-19 Confectionary Task Force Expert Team. He gave an example such as Bali which was able to increase the coverage of the third dose of vaccination by 26 percent within three weeks.

However, he stated that efforts to increase the first and second doses of vaccination were also carried out to achieve the COVID-19 vaccination target of 208,265,720 people set by the government.

"However, it is necessary to pay attention that the rate of vaccination of doses one and two must also be as fast so that the formation of community immunity in each region can be formed evenly," he said.
