IDI Is Not Ready Yet, DPR Commission IX Cancels Meeting To Discuss Terawan's Dismissal

JAKARTA - Commission IX of the DPR has canceled a Public Hearing Meeting (RDPU) with the Management of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) regarding the explanation of the main tasks and functions of the IDI as an Indonesian medical professional organization. Originally, the meeting to discuss the issue of the permanent dismissal of former Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto from IDI membership was held on Tuesday, March 29 at 13.00 WIB. However, the meeting was cancelled. Confirming this, Member of Commission IX DPR Saleh Partaonan Daulay said the meeting with IDI today had to be postponed because the organization that fired Terawan asked to be rescheduled. "Actually, it wasn't cancelled, the meeting with IDI was because I wanted to get complete information as soon as possible. But it looks like today's IDI is not ready, so I asked for a rescheduling," said Saleh when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, March 29. This information was only found after the meeting time started. Even with Saleh, he admitted that he had just received news from the Secretariat of Commission IX.

"I just got an answer from the Secretariat of Commission IX, it looks like it will be rescheduled," he said. Currently, Commission IX of the DPR is looking for a time when the meeting can be held. The reason, said Saleh, was that the commission in charge of health was willing to shift the agenda of another meeting in order to conduct an RDPU with IDI, particularly regarding the issue of Terawan's dismissal. "You see, we invited them today and prepared the time for today, because we have shifted the schedule for another meeting earlier. Since we already have a schedule for one session, there is a schedule for this," Saleh explained. "Because we want to have a meeting with IDI, we will shift the existing schedule to include a schedule with IDI, but the IDI is not ready," he continued. The chairman of the DPR PAN faction hoped that in the near future IDI would be able to take the time to come to the DPR. "Hopefully in the near future this can be resolved and we can find a good formulation," said Saleh.
