BOGOR - The Bogor City Government, West Java, revealed that there is currently an increasingly shortage of cooking oil supplies, both bulk and packaged a week before Ramadan. It is necessary to coordinate with the central government to overcome this problem.

Head of the Division of Domestic Trade Development, Consumer Protection and Orderly Commerce of the Office of Cooperatives, SMEs, Trade and Industry of the City of Bogor, Mohamad Soleh said that apart from a shortage of supply, cooking oil prices rose significantly.

"We continue to monitor the market and will coordinate with related parties," he said in Bogor City, Antara, Monday, March 28. Soleh said that the results of monitoring in two markets, namely Pasar Baru Bogor and Pasar Kebon Bunga Blok C and D, on average, traders sell cooking oil at a price of Rp. 18,000 to Rp. 20,000.

The price of the agent also increased bulk cooking oil by 13 percent, or an increase of Rp. 2,000 from the price of Rp. 16,000 to Rp. 18,000. Meanwhile, said Soleh, it is still difficult for traders to get stock, because they are limited and often do not get stock at the Pasar Anyar Market Agent and Kota Jaya Store.

This condition causes stock shortages for the general public who want to shop at traditional markets. This is because traders are only given stock per 1 conductor with a capacity of 16 kilograms per purchase every day.

Meanwhile, packaged cooking oil also experienced a higher increase of 14 percent or an increase of Rp. 3,000 from the price of Rp. 22,000 to Rp. 25,000. The available stock is also limited, including the Resto brand.

"So the average bulk oil stock is empty at traders, because only 16 kilograms are allocated. The stock of packaged oil is also very limited and tends to be empty," said Soleh.

He ensured that his party would always check the price and stock of cooking oil to ensure the availability of cooking oil in the market.

"The situation and atmosphere in the market is quite crowded, and will continue to be monitored until D-1 before Ramadan or on Friday, April 1, 2022," he said.

According to Antara's observations in two markets today, namely Pasar Baru Bogor and Pasar Anyar, all compact traders said that stocks of bulk cooking oil and packaged cooking oil were not available to buyers from the general public.

With a ration of bulk cooking oil of 16 kilograms per day, it is not enough to meet their customers. One of the grocery traders at Pasar Baru Bogor, Wati, said that every time someone asked about cooking oil, she would say no.

That's because the cooking oil he has is in stock for his shop's loyal customers. From the price of Rp. 16,000 per kilogram, he resells it to the public at a price of Rp. 19,000 per kilogram.

The bulk oil stock did not appear in the shop. Meanwhile, packaged cooking oil does not appear to be in stock for some time.

"There is but I don't display it, there are still not enough subscriptions. The packaging doesn't exist at all," he said.

Another trader in the same market, Ani, said that both bulk and packaged cooking oil are not in stock ahead of this Ramadan, because they are limited by agents.

"Nothing, in bulk or in packaging. Even if there was a Fortuner brand packaging yesterday, the price of Rp. 47,000 is now out of stock," he said.

Likewise, Tio, a grocery trader at Pasar Anyar, stated that she could not sell cooking oil freely, because stock was limited. Every time it comes as many as 16 kilograms directly visited by its customers.

"It's gone, less every day. It must be empty in a few hours," he said.

The owner of the cooking oil agent at Toko Makmur Acun, when contacted, also said that every day he gets 320 jerrycans of bulk cooking oil containing 16 kilograms per jerry can which is sent in two cars.

"One jerry can is valued at 256,000, we sell it," he said.

Meanwhile, the stock of packaged cooking oil only gets the Sania brand with a size of 2 liters which is sold per box of six packs for IDR 276,000 to traders with a stock of less than 800 boxes per day.
