KUDUS - People with disabilities have the opportunity to be supervisors of general elections (elections) as a form of active participation in supervision. The Election Oversight Body (Bawaslu) of Kudus Regency said those who are interested are welcome to register.

"Because all people, including people with disabilities, have the right to participate in election supervision," said the Chairperson of the Bawaslu of Kudus Regency Moh Wahibul Minan on the sidelines of "Socialization of Participatory Supervision and Political Education" to target groups at the Selera Persada Restaurant, Jalan Masjid Agung Kudus, Monday, March 28, citing Antara.

In the 2018 election, he said, it was recorded that there were two persons with disabilities who took part as election supervisors even though their duties were at the polling station (TPS) level.

For this reason, he said, in 2024 people with disabilities could participate again with more numbers than the previous number.

During the socialization, Minan also invited the Kudus disability community to become a participatory election supervisor in order to prevent various frauds during the upcoming elections.

It is hoped that cases of money politics that often occur at every democratic party can be suppressed as much as possible.

In addition to outreach to people with disabilities, his party has also intensified socialization to a number of communities and established supervisory villages and anti-money politics villages.

The Head of the Office of Social Affairs, Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning of Kudus Regency, Mundir, who was present at the event, appreciated the role of Bawaslu in educating the community with disabilities about election supervision.

"Hopefully it will encourage people with disabilities to actively participate in election monitoring. They also have the same rights and obligations as other normal people in politics," he concluded.
