Jokowi Has Mandalika MotoGP, Anies Needs Formula E, Both Are Considered To Have Similarities In Building

JAKARTA - Political observer Hendri Satrio believes that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan have something in common to be proud of. President Jokowi successfully showcased the Mandalika MotoGP, Lombok on March 20. Meanwhile, Anies needs Formula E so that it can become a lighthouse project that can also be exhibited to the public.

"He (Anies) really needs something to show off. Both (Anies and Jokowi) are the same. Anies also needs that, Jokowi also needs that," said Hendri during a discussion in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Sunday, March 27.

For Hendri, Anies' move to make Formula E is considered legitimate. Because Anies is currently mandated by the people of Jakarta to manage the DKI Provincial budget. Likewise, Jokowi, who made the MotoGP title with a pretty fantastic budget, costing IDR 2.5 trillion.

Apart from showing off the racing project, Jokowi and Anies are also said to be very similar in terms of development policies.

Jokowi made many lighthouse projects for physical development such as toll roads and finally the State Capital (IKN) policy. Meanwhile, Anies is trying to build physical development in Jakarta.

"If Jokowi builds toll roads, builds dams, Anies also repairs sidewalks, builds bridges, things that are easy to see," he said.

Then regarding politics, Anies and Jokowi are said to have come into politics at the same time. Anies was known as a political figure in 2014 at the same time as Jokowi's nomination as a presidential candidate.

"So smart voters at that time supported Jokowi as President, while now Anies' supporters are Jokowi's voters," he said. "So many programs are actually similar to the two of them, only Anies is at the Jakarta level," concluded Hendri.
