JAKARTA - A motorcyclist was found dead as a result of being involved in an accident on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, exactly opposite the DKI Jakarta City Hall Building, Gambir District, Central Jakarta, Sunday, March 27.

"The victim was a student, he was riding a motorbike. There was a collision with the bajaj, but the bajaj ran away," said Head of the Traffic Unit (Kanit) of the Central Jakarta Metro Police AKP Sutiyono when contacted by VOI, Sunday, March 27, afternoon.

According to AKP Sutiyono, the incident occurred when the victim was driving from the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue fountain roundabout, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta.

"According to information, the victim came from the direction of Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan heading east. Right across from City Hall, he bumped into a bajay. But the driver of the bajaj ran away," he said.

The victim was helped by medical personnel at the DKI Jakarta City Hall but his life was not saved.

"He died on the spot. When he was helped, there happened to be a medic who kept on crossing but couldn't be helped. The victim was not an online motorcycle taxi but seemed to be a student," he said.

Until now, the case is still being handled by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit. Police are also still gathering evidence from CCTV footage and eyewitnesses to the incident.
