JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Tangerang Regency has asked food stalls and restaurant owners to adjust their operating hours.

This was conveyed directly by the Chairman of the MUI Tangerang Regency, KH Moh. Ues Nawawi.

"We urge food stalls to open their grains only in the hours before breaking the fast and at dawn," said Nawawi when confirmed, Saturday, March 26.

Nawawi said the rules for adjusting operating hours for culinary traders only apply during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to him, this regulation is not a ban, but only applies to the local government of Tangerang Regency.

"So if we are to prohibit opening, it is not in our capacity (MUI). We only provide input to the regional government and God willing, in the near future we will issue a circular," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding nightclubs, Narwawi asked to close during the holy month of Ramadan.

"We hope that one week before Ramadan or three days to two days before fasting can close our activities. And it will be reopened a week after Idul Fitri," he explained.
