JAKARTA - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin's move to ask his staff to carry out intelligence operations to look for goods from abroad or imports that have been transformed into domestic products is supported by the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Prince Khairul Saleh.

"I fully support the Attorney General's order to ask the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence and the Heads of the High Prosecutor's Office and the District Attorney's Office to conduct intelligence operations to search for and find foreign or imported goods that are labeled as if they were domestic products," Prince said in Jakarta, Saturday 26 March.

He hoped that the intelligence entrusted to the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Sunarta would be able to sniff out the patgufold game of importing goods from outside.

This, according to him, is because it does not rule out the possibility of smuggling cheap goods from abroad, smuggling of goods through certain areas or in warehouses belonging to Customs and Excise itself.

“I specifically ask the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence Sunarta to monitor the 'marketplace' more seriously. We must have a shared responsibility that securing national products is part of the framework of strengthening our economic resilience," he said, as reported by Antara.

According to him, the public is waiting for a new breakthrough by the Attorney General's Office, especially the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence, in carrying out this noble mission to secure national products, which are still struggling against cheap products from abroad.

The prince said it is never too late to do good, especially regarding strategic security, especially national products from attacks by imported products.

According to him, the attack on imported products has caused most of the national products to fall, unable to compete with the very cheap prices of imported products in the domestic market.

“The national movement to love national products more cannot stand alone. For that, in my opinion, it must be closely monitored through the protection and security of policies on national products and strengthened by supervision and action in the field against illegally imported products," he said.

The prince explained that the inability of national products to compete with imported goods was not a joke.

According to him, this is a fact that how in the domestic market imported goods are sold at low prices.

"Especially in the 'marketplace', there are many offers of any Chinese product so that it can be imported easily and cheaply," he said.

He said that seeing these facts, it is not surprising that many national products that were born from people's industries, such as silver, copper, brass, and other jewelry were "out of business".

In addition, according to him, the apparel convection industry is experiencing difficult times, not only because of the COVID-19 pandemic but they are unable to compete with the cheap prices of imported products.
