MEDAN - Personnel from the Jatanras Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Asahan Police shot the right leg of fisherman A (20), a resident of Hessa Air Ginting Village, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra, a mobile phone thief who endangered police safety during an arrest attempt.

Putu said the theft was experienced by victim Fadli Armaya (20), a resident of Sei Kamah II Village, Sei Dadap District, Asahan Regency, Thursday (17/3) at around 08.00 WIB.

"The victim reported that 1 unit of her Vivo Y33s midday dream color cellphone was lost because it was stolen by the reported person through the bedroom window of the house," he said.

The police chief said the victim suffered a loss of IDR 4,700,000 and reported it to the Asahan Police.

Based on this incident, the police conducted an investigation and on Thursday (24/3) at around 15.00 WIB, Jatanras Unit personnel received information that the perpetrator was at the house of Hessa Air Ginting Village. Then the police came to the location and arrested the perpetrator.

"However, when the arrests were made, the perpetrators resisted those who could endanger the officers, so decisive and measurable action was taken," he explained.

Before being taken to the Asahan Police Headquarters, the perpetrator was first taken to the HAMS Kisaran General Hospital (RSU) for medical treatment.

"To the officers, the perpetrator admitted that he was a recidivist who had been sentenced to prison for the theft with a weight in 2020 and was sentenced to 10 months in prison," said the Asahan Police Chief.
