JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo seeks to ensure commodities and food conditions remain safe ahead of Ramadan. Ganjar anticipates that the demand for basic needs of the community will increase during the month of Ramadan.

Ganjar revealed that food stock data showed the availability of food in Central Java was in a safe condition. However, prices are still volatile.

"This means, in terms of safe stock, in terms of prices that are still volatile," said Ganjar.

Deputy Regional Head of Perum Bulog Regional Office of Central Java, Muhson Chudlori said that food stocks in Central Java were indeed in a safe condition ahead of Ramadan.

"The people's basic needs during Ramadan and Eid are actually sufficient. And Bulog will be there when people need it," said Muhson in his office in Semarang.

He explained that the food stock in Bulog's warehouse until March 23, 2022, is in safe condition. The commodity is cooking oil with an existing stock of 50 thousand liters.

"That (cooking oil) will increase in line with the existing needs. So people don't need to worry," he explained.

The stock of cooking oil, he said, would continue to grow according to market needs. It will continue to procure to meet the needs. "The government is here with the availability of cooking oil. People don't have to worry," he said.

Furthermore, the current stock of rice is 29,000 tons. That number continues to increase along with entering the harvest period. Another food stock is wheat flour about 7 tons. The flour will also be distributed to all Bulog regional offices in need.
